Drowning in Dreams - Experimental audio project

Part of an audio buffet that aired on WGXC in 2025.

Drowning In Dreams explores the roles of home and ambitions alongside fragments of personal voice. I think a lot about the value of the little moments that surround us, and the roles of memory and time. With stitching different voices together, I knew I wanted to incorporate a lot of different textures as well as a couple personal soundbites from memories at home, and times when pressure gets the best of me. While this project became much different than I had originally planned, I think working through it allowed me to follow themes that are important to me, allowing the project to feel more raw and personal.

I hope this piece reminds you that it’s okay to drown in your dreams sometimes- even when it’s hard. No matter how lost you feel or how hard you’re trying to place home when it feels temporary or out of sight- just keep being true to yourself. Even when our minds are our biggest enemies there are so many good fragments to look for. Sometimes, believing in yourself becomes doubting if you can reach your own potential, and making it through is the only way to realize that you've pushed yourself even further.
